Comprehensive advising is a proven intervention to increase student retention and completion and is mandatory for all NICC students enrolled in degree-seeking programs. Faculty advisors discuss degree requirements, assist students with the registration process, and connect students to College resources to help them be successful students. Full-time CTE faculty who teach program courses are expected to advise students in their program. Department Deans assign faculty to the advising role and determine the number of advisees allowed per workloads. Faculty advisors then complete a training program with Student Services staff.
