Classes are scheduled to meet the credit requirements submitted to the Iowa Department of Education. Faculty are expected to adhere to class schedules and meet the identified class, lab, clinical, or work based learning time allocations regardless of the class delivery method. Holding class later than scheduled or letting class out early without approval from the Dean is not acceptable.
The credit hour breakdown for each course is listed in the college catalog at the end of the course description. For example, (68/8) means 68 theory hours and 8 lab hours. Clinical and Coop hours are identified in the college catalog.
In instances when a class does not meet due to campus closings, it is the instructor’s obligation to see that course guide objectives are met by students. All faculty are required to post course materials and assignment in Brightspace to provide class delivery through synchronous online methods. In addition, outside assignments may be given to cover necessary material, or arrangements can be made with students to make up the time if deemed necessary.
All changes in class schedules and course delivery methods must be pre-approved by the Department Dean.
