DISTANCE COURSE DELIVERY
Faculty must successfully complete FAC-102: Quality Course Design with Brightspace before teaching distance courses. This course is part of the professional development program for new instructors. The training allows faculty to collaborate with the instructional design team and other instructors as they learn how to plan, design, and deliver courses that meet NICC’s Quality Course Design Standards while utilizing Brightspace tools.
By completing this training, faculty can ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality distance and face-to-face course content in the Brightspace LMS. Newly hired faculty will be enrolled in FAC-102 as they begin working with their assigned Instructional Designer. If you haven’t yet taken the course and are interested in enrolling in FAC-102, please contact your dean for enrollment either during the fall, spring, or summer terms.
The College offers synchronous course delivery via video conference, utilizing the Zoom platform for delivery and recording. Tutorials for Zoom are available on the Brightspace Knowledgebase. This technology allows faculty to deliver their courses in a dynamic and interactive way, enhancing the learning experience for students by making class recordings available for review.
Faculty members teaching via video conference classrooms can receive technology training through the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department or by emailing helpdesk@nicc.edu with their request.
