We have a three day weekend!!!! Celebrate all that you have already accomplished this school year! BEST STAFF EVER!!!!!
Dear Adams' Fam!!
Wow - we had three important visits from district this week and all three visits went wonderfully! Most of the visits were very impromptu and y'all were still very impressive - of course 😉. Our Area Superintendent was able to visit new to the campus classrooms as well as our ASU rooms - both an ASU Grad from the student teaching program and our current student teachers! She was absolutely delighted with what she saw and could see what we're working on as a staff including AVID, Kagan, & Learning Targets & Success Criteria. Then we had Tracy Yslas the Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction join our Professional Learning. She was completely impressed with the staff questions, clear commitment to students, and positivity. THEN we had Lindsay Linoff, the district AVID Specialist visit classrooms and she was also thoroughly impressed with what she saw in classrooms - she was taking pictures and wondering when she could have other AVID school leaders out to visit because "they need to see this." Thank you all for making me such a proud principal! You all are so wonderful in so many ways
Adams team - We got this!

Counselor Corner
We have been focusing on attendance like crazy this week. We will be giving you information about our attendance protocol next week. This will help us determine which students we can help support through our attendance groups. The more often students come (and on time) the more they can learn and grow!
Also, the Counselor Classroom Lesson sign up sheet has been sent! If you haven't done so yet, please sign up for a time slot so we can come teach your students some social emotional lessons next month!

Now that our Committees document is out there we can get going with making our Adams' Community even more awesome! One of the best ways to bridge home and school is through our PTO - so I am so excited and grateful that Jordan Simon is willing to take on that awesome responsibility this year - but she needs your help! Teachers please PERSONALLY reach out to one or more of your parents and ask that they get involved with our PTO this school year - as soon as we have a date and time for our first meeting we'll let you know! It makes a difference if you call them and say that you would love for him/her to be our room mom/dad and represent your class at the first PTO meeting. Our PTO definitely fell apart last school year - so this is the year to start fresh and start amazing! Thank you in advance for supporting our PTO by recruiting our parents to attend!
Our September AVID focus of the month is Quickwrites! I love using quickwrites with adults and children alike because of the fact that it forces students to think as they write - it also gives younger students the practice of writing their thoughts on paper - not copying thoughts or text. It is also a great way to use formative assessment in your room as you begin or end a lesson! Please read more about quickwrites to the right.➡
HUGE thank you to all of the teachers who graciously opened their doors to the visitors we had already this school year: Ms. Short, Ms. Foss, Ms. Sage, Mr. Estes, Ms. Braidi, Ms. Simon, Ms. Almanza, Ms. Schein, Ms. Mora, and Ms. Morales! Wow! What a list - y'all have made showing off Adams easy!
I heard that students are not as jazzed as they used to be about some of the items in Tiger Store so we wanted to update the offerings - if you have ideas PLEASE add them to this list. Speaking of PBIS - I forgot all about this video that we had - other than the morning procedure it's a good watch! We should be having our students watching this regularly especially after a break, long weekend, or if they're having issues following these expectations. Remember in PBIS if a child doesn't know how to behave - we teach!
