I'd really like to celebrate our new teachers that started this semester as well as all of the staff that has helped to welcome Ms. Smith and Ms. Whitright!!! Welcome to the Adams' Fam ladies!
Dear Adams' Fam!!
😍 It is 2022 and third quarter, and everyone has done an amazing job getting our students to where they need to be in spite of many obstacles not within our control. I very much appreciate the work that you have all put into making sure that our students are safe and learning at high levels. Our high expectations for our students - whether it be for their behavior or for their learning make a big difference! We must also have those high expectations for our selves and each other, let's keep each other accountable to each other. At the beginning of the year we talked about our culture being what we allow. If you want our culture to be full of people with high expectations and positive attitudes than we need to call each other out when we see that in each other and call it out when we don't see that within each other too. Thank you in advance for making sure we always put our students first, making our students' learning our priority as we Inspire, Empower, and Succeed together!
Adams team - We got this!

Counselor Corner
Thank you to all teachers who helped their kids take their mySAEBRS. We met with over 100 students based on their answers and have found many to help as a result of our conversations with them. So far, we have referred 8 students to therapy, a couple students we want to see individually, and more than 30 students that will benefit from being in a counseling group!
We will be starting lots of groups in January. Be on the lookout for Tardy groups, friendship/self-esteem groups, and grief groups (this would include students missing parents in prison or just because they don't get to see a parent).
Have an amazing Winter break and get lots of rest and relaxation!!!!
And Special Visits
No special visits this week, but I am off campus this Monday at a conference - I also have an online district meeting Tuesday from 8-11:30 so I'll be on campus for that but in my office:/ - I'll be here the rest of the week though! If you would like me to be present for any of your conferences, please check my calendar and then send me an invite if I'm available so I can make sure to be there! If you're not sure how to do that, please feel free to text me or call Lupita in the office:) Next Tuesday, Lara Ellington one of our School Board members is visiting from 9-10. I don't know if she would like to tour any classrooms, this will be my first time meeting her so I'm not sure how she would like to structure her visit. I'll let you know as soon as I do!
Your MTSS team is working hard to make sure we make some changes in the cafeteria to make it run smoother in there - feel free to email me in the meantime if you have any ideas about that or anything else please - I love feedback from you!
Our January AVID Strategy of the month is Socratic Methods
To the right here ➡I have included a link to a google folder that I made that has some helpful resources about Socratic Methods. If you google Socratic Seminar or Philosophical Chairs you'll also find many great resources. One of the best resources is also to log onto MyAVID.org - each of you has an account, if you need help with accessing that Renee Geyer can help you. Once in My AVID go to Core Strategies you'll find different strategies and the resources in the "Learn More" buttons.
Thank you in advance for filling out both surveys that may be in your inbox right now! We will be looking very carefully at both of those. One is about our school and the other is about me - I really do appreciate your feedback!
MyAVID.org
Your AVID Site Team Members reviewed the ins and outs of the MyAVID site last week - there are many helpful resources on there - please reach out to your site team (Taylor Gregory, Natalie Short, Carli Brown, Priscilla Foss, or myself if you need support with this!)
