Our Area Superintendent, Arlinda Mann and the principals that visited classrooms on Monday were VERY impressed with what they saw in classrooms! They loved the collaboration between students (Kagan structures) and the notes/quickwrites (AVID)- as well as the clear continuity from one grade level to the next! We are rockin' it at Adams! #AZadamsrocks
Dear Adams' Fam!!
I saw a clear difference between this week and last week! Thank you to those of you who had your students practicing complimenting each other! Seriously, it's those little things that make a difference! If you didn't get a chance to do that this week - put it in your lesson plans for next week - but it shouldn't be a one time thing for your students - turn it into a habit for your students to give compliments by doing it regularly!
We have now had several teachers go observe other teachers - we have been able to find coverage to make this happen and the teachers that are being observed have been so welcoming - Thank you for that - it makes such a difference for our entire campus! I love that we are a campus that embraces learning at every level including me - I learn from you all, all the time!
So obviously substitutes have been an issue - PLEASE EVERYONE when you see a substitute, go overboard to be kind to them so they'll want to come back! I don't want subs turning down jobs here to go the school down the street or across town - I want them looking for the jobs at Adams! Also, strike up a conversation with them and get their numbers so you can reach out to them personally to get them to commit when you are planning to be absent!
Adams team - We got this!

**The Arizona Department of Education is requiring an AZELLA Stand Alone Field Test (SAFT) of all English learner students at all grade levels (1-12) this fall. This special test administration is not optional. SAFT testing will begin October 11th.
The testing window for Adams is 11/8/2021-11/15/2021 .
Sonnia and Lirio will be administering this test to students, so they will not be available for classroom support until testing is completed.
I will be sending important information for K-3 teachers regarding MOWR.
Chang will be on Campus- Mon/Wed/Fri the week 😊
Evaluations- I have reached out if I am the one doing your evaluation. If you have had 2 observations by your assigned evaluator then you can schedule your formal evaluation. Please do not wait until the last minute to sign up. The first one needs to be complete prior to winter break. Click here for my detailed instructions/helpful tips

Counselor Corner
We have been trying very hard to get all of our groups scheduled and are doing our very best to work with all teachers around their schedules. Groups we have started are K-1 Intensive Behavior Group, 2nd grade Being a Good Student Group, Friends vs. Frenemies, Relational Aggression, and 2-3 Academic Group.
Groups still to come: 4-6 Academic Group, Self-esteem Group, and Attendance groups.
When we begin a group, we will email all teachers to see what students would benefit most and what times would work for everyone. If we do not hear back from you, we will assume you are okay with this time :)
We have a photocircle 📸 for 21-22 Here is the link: https://join.photocircleapp.com/BKK7J4260Y

We need you to stay healthy!! Sign up for the Flu vaccine!
Our September AVID focus of the month is Quickwrites! I love using quickwrites with adults and children alike because of the fact that it forces students to think as they write - it also gives younger students the practice of writing their thoughts on paper - not copying thoughts or text. It is also a great way to use formative assessment in your room as you begin or end a lesson! Please read more about quickwrites to the right.➡
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH❤ for filling in where we don't have enough substitutes!! or when we don't have enough Aides! AMAZING News - we have recently hired 6 more Aides! 🎉😁So as soon as they get processed through HR - we should be doing pretty well! 👌🙌😎
PROCEDURES PROCEDURES PROCEDURES
They may act like they don't - but students love procedures - they thrive on structure. They may not be used to it because of unstructured home lives but they absolutely need structure in the form of procedures. They need procedures of how to line up, how to sharpen their pencils, how to transition, how to wash their hands, you name it! If you haven't already provided these, this may very well be why you're having some behavioral issues in your classroom. Not to brag - but Renee and I are both really good at these - if you need support with this - please ask!!! We would both love to help you with this - believe me, it makes our job in the long run much easier if you get good at this too - so we will jump at the opportunity to support you with procedures. Procedures are not just something you go over the first week of school - they are reviewed regularly and often. As soon as you see someone not following the procedure - stop them and have the whole class review it with the student - when you get a new student - perfect time to review, after the weekend, after a break - really all the time! I have provided my own procedures THIS IS THE LINK from a long long long time ago when I was in the classroom and my name was Ms. Douglas 🤣. These procedures were on the walls next to the areas they pertained to as well as being reviewed which also helped students and myself and my partner teacher at the time to go over them.
Another reminder to not miss field trips!
