On Tuesday we had a maintenance worker who was trying to address our pigeon issue 💩 - he was here for a while in the stairs area - anyway he stopped by to tell me how impressed he was by our students' behavior and how sweet he thought our kids were - he works at schools all over this district, so I really took it to heart what he was saying about Adams 🧡
Dear Adams' Fam!!
😍 We've had a pretty important delivery in the library - and it's not an Elf! It's the curriculum materials that YOU ALL need to vote for. PLEASE dig into those materials and take a close look at them so you can make an educated decision about which materials you would like to vote for. Your vote is due by 12/13/21, but I need to submit our overall vote on the 13th so I suggest you vote prior to that. Put it on your calendar 📅 to go in and spend time with the materials for next week or sooner!
Renee sent out the email that has the vote form in it on 11/30. Did you put it on your calendar yet - I'll wait and you can go ahead and do it now...
Thank you to all of you who have made a concerted effort to give out tiger tickets🐯 to students all over campus - not just the ones you normally come into contact with! Not only does this habit make a difference for ALL of our students - it also makes a difference for you! If you spend your time looking 👀 for the good, it truly does have a positive impact on you 🥰
Adams team - We got this!

Counselor Corner
mySAEBRS!!!! Thank you to those teachers who have already done this with their students. We are learning new things each time. Please remind your kids about 10 times to ask questions if they do not know what something means.
We are doing our best trying to keep up with all the students we have to meet with as a result of this screener. So far we have had to meet with 26 students (based on their answers) out of 5 classes! It is a lot, but hopefully this will allow us to help students that truly need it!
Here is the screening schedule in case you missed it in the email. Please give your screener as soon as possible in the morning and record your necessary results on this spreadsheet .
12/6 (Monday): 3rd Grade
12/7 (Tuesday): 4th Grade
12/9 (Thursday): 5th Grade
12/10 (Friday): 2nd-3rd Make-ups- send these students to room 8 at 7:50am with their computers and headphones
12/13 (Monday): 6th Grade
12/14 (Tuesday): 4th-6th Make-ups- send these students to room 8 at 7:45am with their computers and headphones
Attendance!!!! Get ready for the next months attendance spreadsheet (this is for 5 or more absences in November). We should be sending this out early next week. Once receiving this, please remember to make your 2 contacts and then email the counselors once this is done. If we all work together we can get many of our kids here and on time every day! Thank you!!!
And Special Visits

Holiday Partaaay 🎉🎶- mark your calendars 📅 for Friday evening December 17th - Don't get your tinsel in a tangle more info to come!
NO ADMIN ALERT - Hollie and I will both be at the AVID National Conference in Dallas Wednesday through Friday next week. PLEASE do your best to remind students of behavior expectations before they go onto the playground and use those Tiger Tickets to support those positive behaviors!
WOW what a turn out for our reading night!!! Thank you so much for all of the work that went into that - I really want to keep that momentum up with our families! If we can be partners with our families and help them to understand how they can support their child's education - this will go a long way! Thanks again and I can't wait for our next event!
Speaking of - We had our first PTO meeting and our parents voted to support buying staff shirts! More news on this to come! They also asked about reinstituting the craft night that we used to do - since that was normally a December Holiday theme - we discussed having that in conjunction with Valentine's instead (we'll see). The carnival also came up - but I know Ms. Fowler who retired did A LOT of behind the scenes work for that so I conveyed that I wasn't too sure about being able to pull that off - please feel free to let me know your thoughts on that - I know that was a big grade level fundraiser.
Our DECEMBER AVID Strategy of the month is Costa's Levels of Thinking.
To the right here ➡I have included a link to a google folder that I made that has some helpful resources about Costa's Levels of Thinking as well as some AVID Weekly lessons that are ready to use with your students that are centered around the Levels of Thinking! Put it into your plans to introduce this concept with your students. Work with your team to do this too!
I appreciate how much energy and effort you all are putting in to make up for the loss of learning that our students have experienced over the last year and a half. I know we have a lot of ground to make up for and we've been thrown some curve balls on top of that - but each of you has persevered and you are coming out the other end of this better educators. Thank you.
I also really appreciate the people who have done the work to get their dogs therapy certified so they can join us on campus!
