Our superintendent, Dr. Fourlis was so impressed by what she saw in the classrooms she visited this week! She was taking pictures and commented on the hard work that went into teaching procedures, establishing routines, and she could clearly see the classroom community that was already in place. She was further wowed by the use of success criteria, Kagan Structures & AVID Notes! Way to go Ms. Sage and Ms. Foss for being so amazing! This is the type of teaching I'm seeing across the campus and that is definitely worth celebrating!!! 🎉🙌🏽😃 Here is the message she sent after her visit: "Thank you for sharing glimpses of learning at Adams today. Your focus on collaboration, and student engagement was evident in each of the classrooms we visited today. I loved seeing students assessing their understanding of success criteria. Such a powerful assessment to guide instruction. As we talked about, teacher’s intentional planning for learning was remarkable!" - Andi Fourlis
Dear Adams' Fam!!
Before school started, all certified staff worked on their "why." Your why - the reason you get up and do this work is so important and it is so important that your why is clear to you and those around you. Sometimes we need reminding of our reason for being here. PLEASE make sure you insert your why on the page within these google slides. We will be printing these out in color for you and laminating them so we can put them on your doors with magnets. I'm so excited to read them as we walk through your door. 🚪
I'm seeing more and more of you get those success criteria 🎯going in your classrooms and it is amazing how clear it makes learning for students when they know exactly what they need to do in order to be successful. Thank you for that extra effort to make learning more accessible. 📝
Spending more time in your classrooms is really the bright spot of my day 🌞 - so thank you for all of the work you're putting into making learning fun and meaningful in your classrooms💕. I am hoping and praying that we can keep it in the classrooms and that we do not have to go back to online learning in any of our classes. Encourage your students to wear masks when inside your class and I know this will help. Unfortunately we have had to send out notices that state that we are having an outbreak by definition and this is causing some parents to keep their child home. We know that our students need in-person learning, so I appreciate everyone's efforts to keep them healthy as much as we can.😷
Adams team - We got this!

The above article is a great take on Success Criteria and Learning Intentions - it's only a few pages but definitely a worthwhile read! 👌
Have a restful and relaxing weekend!
Fastbridge Screener will begin on Monday, August 16 for grades K-6. We are having a shortage of computers, so if you are primary teacher and can lend out a few to some intermediate teachers that would be helpful. Also, teachers in grade 2-6, please take some time to check if your students can log into Fastbridge and if they have internet connection.
I appreciate the work each of you took to get certified in your grade level. A shout out to Natalie Short for all her help with Fastbridge training!
Adams Days this week- M/W/F
SLIT Presentation will be done Wednesday- be prepared for some good information!! If you have a student who you need to start documentation on, email me and I will send you a file to collect data.
Remember to get lots of rest this weekend. I have seen so many of you here on the weekends- but make sure you are leaving time for YOU! Remember self care is important.
Hello everyone! It's that time of year again when we spend a lot of our time helping the students remember how to have a positive school day. Logan will be out another week so right now I am mostly responding to urgent situations. We have a lot of great things planned this year to help the students grow. Since we are not helping with technology this year, I made a document explaining the differences between what Chris from Ed Tech can help with and what Jesse from IT can help with. Please take a look, it also has the link for work orders. Thanks so much.
We have a photocircle for 21-22 Here is the link: https://join.photocircleapp.com/BKK7J4260Y
Feed the Children is a large international agency that provides school supplies and food security. Last year our district was supported by this agency, providing food and hygiene items for our high school students.
This year Feed the Children has a new facility in Chandler and would like to support Mesa Public Schools classroom teachers with school supplies for free.
When: Your school’s teacher “shop” day is Wednesday, August 25th.
Who can participate: Any classroom teacher who registers to attend on August 25th. Teachers from your school can register from available times from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where:
Feed the Children
3475 S. McQueen
Chandler, Az 85268
How it works: Classroom teachers from your school use the attached directions for registering. On the day of the “shop” teachers show up to the Chandler facility on their scheduled time. Each teacher will be given a large shopping bag and can fill it with free resources for their classroom. Supplies vary from corporate donations across the United States.
So do we have anyone willing to coordinate the garden club? We would love to have our students supporting the gardens' growth but of course we need somebody in charge of that! Or several people could help with that job! Let me know if that is something you'd like to do!
I know I can get some donations from Lowe's if we can get this going - I was hoping to set up a Saturday where we have parents come in to help - I'd love to do after school but it is just to dang hot to do that right now.
Reflecting about learning is an essential way to cement the learning for the day! The AVID focus for the month of August is DLIQ - which is a great way to organize those reflections- it is also a wonderful way to assess your students' learning at the end of the lesson!
AND Scholarly Language is something that students need practice using! People sometimes post the pages to the right in students' journals, binders, or on the wall to help students with using scholarly language!
Thank you again to all the amazing peeps that are going out to duty when they are not assigned but just want to help - this is why we are done by 8 minutes after - Adams has THE BEST STAFF!!!! ❤🥰😍✨
I wish we had the budget to purchase EVERYTHING you would like for your classroom- but Donors Choose is an awesome alternative.
Erin Hathcock, Laura Braidi, & Sam Jones all had their projects funded this week so ask them how to make it happen for you too!
And now next Wednesday you can go to Chandler and get free stuff too! See above or the Google Calendar!
Oh my goodness this guy makes me laugh - yes, I do follow him on Tik Tok 🤣
