Dear Adams' Fam!!
You did it - you got through the first quarter and you did it beautifully! We really are making our Vision come to life - we are growing as a model school - I'm always so proud to walk visitors into our classrooms because I know they'll be seeing some great teaching and learning. I see you ALL building relationships with our students and each other - you are giving them those skills to help them be successful in the classroom and beyond. That is our vision! 🎯 Do some of them need more support and reminders than others - of course, but you're not giving up on them and I really appreciate that. We have some amazing people on campus that have been supporting in so many different ways and that is what makes us the Adams Family that I love! 😻

Evaluations- I have reached out if I am the one doing your evaluation. If you have had 2 observations by your assigned evaluator then you can schedule your formal evaluation. SLIT- UPDATES
Teachers who would like a pre-slit meeting will be assigned a mentor from the committee to help support.
When you have the following completed- please email Hollie Chang so you can be placed on the meeting calendar.
* Sections 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10 completed (Section 8 will be done sometime after the email)
* Section 9 has 4 weeks or more of data
Once you are on the calendar it typically takes 2-4 weeks and interventions should still be happening the whole time.

Counselor Corner
We have been trying very hard to get all of our groups scheduled and are doing our very best to work with all teachers around their schedules. Groups we have started are K-1 Intensive Behavior Group, 2nd grade Being a Good Student Group, Friends vs. Frenemies, Relational Aggression, and 2-3 Academic Group.
Groups still to come: 4-6 Academic Group, Self-esteem Group, and Attendance groups.
When we begin a group, we will email all teachers to see what students would benefit most and what times would work for everyone. If we do not hear back from you, we will assume you are okay with this time :)
We've had more Donor's Choose projects funded! Way to go!!! If you haven't tried for one yet - ask someone how they had theirs funded and I'm sure they would be glad to help you! Dream big and make it happen!
We applied for ESSR funds to have a math and literacy coach for next school year that split a classroom and we were approved!!! I am so excited about this - this was a model that I was able to be a part of when I was in the classroom as the math coach and it was such a wonderful way to support students and teachers simultaneously - this will be awesome for Adams!!!

Our October AVID Strategy of the month is one-pagers. This is a very effective way to help students reflect on and summarize their learning. It can be used in any content area and allows students to get creative and make more connections to their learning which equates to more long-term learning! If you have never done one before, get with your team and brainstorm how to best start implementing it and put it in your lesson plans so you can make it happen. And of course, you can always come to me if you need support - also to the right is a good resource to get you and your students started make sure you check it out!
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding in regards to our short staffing. We have hired quite a few people - but unfortunately the hiring process takes way longer than it should. I am on the newly formed human resources committee and this is one of the biggest issues that we are discussing at the moment. I'd love to say that it is going to change quickly but I can't say quickly I can only say that eventually it will be changing - Again, in the meantime I greatly appreciate your help with filling in when needed. It will get better...eventually.
I've been so impressed with your willingness to be observed and observe others. Sharing is Caring and when you share strategies and resources with other teachers - you are greatly impacting more students. If you haven't had a chance to observe another teacher - please connect with me so we can make it happen or feel free to reach out directly to a colleague. Don't be shy - it's all about our kids and growing and learning.
