Can we just celebrate that it is FRIDAY!!! Oh my goodness what a week! HAVE AN AMAZING and restful weekend!
Also, lets celebrate that we had the Cardinals visit!! That was pretty dang cool too!
Dear Adams' Fam!!
Holy Moley what a week! I think a record was broken and it wasn't a good one - the number of office referrals in one day 😭. This upcoming week - Let's buckle down on spreading the love and happiness and I want to have the goal in mind of having fewer office referrals. I know a lot are happening outside of the classroom - but not all - but here is what I want us all to try in order to try and increase the positive and decrease the negative. Everyday before recess and perhaps at the beginning of the day - have a compliment contest in your class. Have students give each other as many compliments as possible - I did this the other day with two students that were fighting with each other. Sadly, I had to explain what a compliment was and then give an example - but I am glad I found out they needed that support because it made me think, there are probably others who need that too! So have the students shower each other with compliments - and then have them reflect on how this made them feel and how it can change us and those around us to be positive and feel the love instead of the opposite. I want to create a habit of saying positive things amongst our students and between us as a staff too! Thank you in advance for being amazing and helping us with this!
Adams team - We got this!

**The Arizona Department of Education is requiring an AZELLA Stand Alone Field Test (SAFT) of all English learner students at all grade levels (1-12) this Fall. This special test administration is not optional. SAFT testing will begin October 11th.
The testing window for Adams is 11/8/2021-11/15/2021 .
Sonnia and Lirio will be administering this test to students, so they will not be available for classroom support until testing is completed.
Chang will be on Campus- Mon/Wed/Fri the week 😊
Evaluations- I have reached out if I am the one doing your evaluation. If you have had 2 observations by your assigned evaluator then you can schedule your formal evaluation. Please do not wait until the last minute to sign up. The first one needs to be complete prior to winter break. Click here for my detailed instructions/helpful tips
SLIT- UPDATES
Teachers who would like a pre-slit meeting will be assigned a mentor from the committee to help support.
When you have the following completed- please email Hollie Chang so you can be placed on the meeting calendar.
* Sections 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10 completed (Section 8 will be done sometime after the email)
* Section 9 has 4 weeks or more of data
Once you are on the calendar it typically takes 2-4 weeks and interventions should still be happening the whole time.

Counselor Corner
We have been focusing on attendance like crazy this week. We will be giving you information about our attendance protocol next week. This will help us determine which students we can help support through our attendance groups. The more often students come (and on time) the more they can learn and grow!
Also, the Counselor Classroom Lesson sign up sheet has been sent! If you haven't done so yet, please sign up for a time slot so we can come teach your students some social emotional lessons next month!

Our September AVID focus of the month is Quickwrites! I love using quickwrites with adults and children alike because of the fact that it forces students to think as they write - it also gives younger students the practice of writing their thoughts on paper - not copying thoughts or text. It is also a great way to use formative assessment in your room as you begin or end a lesson! Please read more about quickwrites to the right.➡
Thank you so much to ALL of the people who have had to step in and fill in where we are short staffed. I am sorry that we are but the REALLY good news is that we have had some applicants and we are getting them going so hopefully we won't be so short very soon!
PLEASE just ask to have us cover your class to go observe another teacher - SERIOUSLY take advantage of this opportunity! We have LOTS of amazingness on campus that you can go check out! Let's spread the wealth of awesomeness!
Do we have these on our campus?!
