ASU and NAU keep knocking on our door for more placements for their interns and student teachers! Love that we are helping future teachers learn how to be awesome! Thank you to all of the wonderful teachers that have been willing to take on the responsibility of teaching other soon to be teachers! Our amazing team is definitely something to celebrate!
Dear Adams' Fam!!
Can you believe that we are already going to be into September next week?! In less than a month we have already had a lot of changes that we have implemented both at the district level and here at Adams. With all of those changes - I have seen that you all are facing these challenges🌄 with a positive attitude 😊 and as problem-solvers! This makes a huge difference for those around you and especially for you🥰. We can always choose our attitude - choosing to see a challenge as a challenge and not as a problem 😒 - and looking at ways to overcome that challenge rather than throwing our hands up 🤷🏻♂️ in frustration and to seek out answers rather than complain about it, will give two people in the exact same situation two very different outcomes. If you catch yourself choosing the negative, 🛑 stop yourself and change your lens👓 - if you catch someone else doing it, they very well may not even realize that they're doing it - so kindly let them know 💬 and you may be helping them change a habit that will improve his or her life 🧘🏻♀️! I want to thank you for choosing to see difficult situations as challenges that we can overcome together!
If you're paying attention to the board meetings there have been some changes that are occurring with our mitigation strategies in response to our rising COVID numbers. I have continued to advocate for students and staff to mask-up. We cannot mandate it school wide at the moment but if numbers rise we may have to go there. Also here is a link about how to add the attestation to your phone: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PPjijA3rbI51C2umRVqqWtzG0loGktwnQ6cIuNIPIsk/preview

Arlinda Mann, our area superintendent will be on campus Wednesday 9/1 from 8-9:30. She will likely want to visit at least a couple of classrooms. I'll see if I can find out if she is wanting to see a particular grade level or strategy that we use at Adams.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Counselor Corner
We have been focusing on attendance like crazy this week. We will be giving you information about our attendance protocol next week. This will help us determine which students we can help support through our attendance groups. The more often students come (and on time) the more they can learn and grow!
Also, the Counselor Classroom Lesson sign up sheet has been sent! If you haven't done so yet, please sign up for a time slot so we can come teach your students some social emotional lessons next month!

Way to go 5th Grade! They added their items to the wishlist along with links and prices! Please make sure your team does this so you don't miss out on the chance to get some things funded for you and your team from The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Chandler. They are extremely excited to support Adams! So complete this google sheet as a grade level - they will see what they can do for your team!
Reflecting about learning is an essential way to cement the learning for the day! The AVID focus for the month of August is DLIQ - which is a great way to organize those reflections- it is also a wonderful way to assess your students' learning at the end of the lesson!
AND Scholarly Language is something that students need practice using! People sometimes post the pages to the right in students' journals, binders, or on the wall to help students with using scholarly language!
I want to thank Norina Sombrano for sharing the email that her former student sent her. If you didn't get a chance to see that email that I forwarded - please do! It's so important to see the difference you make!
We have had NAU and ASU reach out to us so that they can place student teachers and interns and I want to thank our teachers that have been willing to support those students on their way to becoming difference makers!
I heard that students are not as jazzed as they used to be about some of the items in Tiger Store so we wanted to update the offerings - if you have ideas PLEASE add them to this list. Speaking of PBIS - I forgot all about this video that we had - other than the morning procedure it's a good watch! We should be having our students watching this regularly especially after a break, long weekend, or if they're having issues following these expectations. Remember in PBIS if a child doesn't know how to behave - we teach!
Aren't you glad this isn't us!?!? okay some of it may have sounded a little too familiar...
