Chuck Full of Music
By Alerah Walker
On Monday, April 13, Chuck Full of Music occurred at Minot High. This music event is hectic for many but can also be very rewarding.
Students sell tickets to the event in the weeks before to raise money for their school’s music department. This money is put towards trips such as State competitions, different aspects of the Florida Trip, and other occurrences that may need some extra help in financing.
After selling tickets, students are included in drawings for scholarships that they can use for the Florida Trip or International Music Camp. These scholarships are very beneficial to those who receive them. Door prizes are given as well.
Besides the possibility of money, students receive many other benefits from participating. Chuck is usually held after all the music WDA competitions are done. Because of this, students feel relieved of pressure and have the chance to focus on non-competitive music pieces. Groups that participated in this event included: middle school orchestras, bands, and choirs; high school orchestras and bands; Minot High’s Change of Pace; and Minot North’s Vox Voce.
Despite the chaos, this event gives not only the audience but the students a chance to see their improvement over the year and the hard work they have put in, along with that of their classmates. Be on the lookout for the date and time of next year's performance!
