getting up early in the morning, the everlasting cold weather, the stress. I know the end of the school year is just a couple of quick months away, but the anticipation is agonizing!
I get up each morning to a blaring siren of an alarm, only to guzzle down a cup of coffee and get started for the day, all the while wishing for the end. Getting to school is no problem; we do live in Minot, North Dakota after all. Once reaching my destination, school, finding a good parking spot is easy, the luxury of the Minot North parking lot. Walking into the school is the hard part.
The bell for first hour rings in only a few minutes, but I struggle to find the motivation to go in. The fear of piles of homework and the stress of deadlines overwhelm me. I think of the long list of work I haven’t finished. Upcoming Choir WDA and having to practice my music pieces. The end of the school year is soon but why can’t it be sooner?
Once I finally hyped myself up, I entered the building, I made sure to stay calm. I make a list of the work I need to complete. This helps my brain feel less overwhelmed, making it easier to get through the day. As the day goes on, I feel less dragged down by the weight of my stress, becoming light and back to my usual self.
I realize I made everything seem harder than it was. The list helped tremendously. I got back on track and finished the day strong. It's hard to feel motivated when the end of the school year is just a quick 9 weeks away, but through different methods of organization, anyone can stay focused and persevere. Hold on tight for the last 2 months!
