Battling for the State Title
By Kendall Bice
Wrestling. Its probably one of the toughest sports out there, mentally and physically, but the Minot Majettes Girls have come a long way over the years. Seeded 2nd in the state as a team, these girls have proven themselves time and time again.
As the season starts to wind down, the girls refuse to take a break. With WDA in a few days and state only a few weeks away, they are pushing harder than ever for that state title.
After some tough losses, the girls went back to the wrestling room determined to come back and dominate the mat. “Everybody has approved all year, everyone has grown to be a better person and wrestler,” says head coach Mitchell Meyer.
Meyer has been coaching for seventeen years, he was inspired to become a coach after his positive interactions with his coaches, and wanted to be the same for his athletes.

This year, the team has faced a handful of challenges, from injuries to sicknesses, yet they have overcome it all. From competing and watching the progression of how the girls grew throughout the season, Meyer couldn't be prouder than his girls.
However, it's not just the girls facing challenges, Meyer has his own things to manage, keeping the girls’ heads held high, motivating them, and making sure they stay excited about wrestling, while also checking up on their grades.
As the season comes to an end they are still setting their goals for years to come. They plan on growing the team and keeping a culture in the room of getting better.
“I want to come back as a state champion and hopefully go to college for wrestling,” says the wrestler Jadance Fletcher.
Fletcher has been wrestling for eight years and is a sophomore at Minot High. Currently seeded second in state for heavyweight.
She enjoys being around the team and overall interacting with everyone.

One of Fletcher's biggest struggles this year was with managing her weight she admits, but she's proud to know she’s made it through the whole season, and she'll always place when she hits the mat. Meyer’s advice to not only Fletcher but the whole team is simple but very powerful “When you step into the mat, it's only you vs you”.
To anyone wanting to join the team, Fletcher's advice to you is to stay humble and make sure you are mentally prepared.
The Minot Majettes wrestling team is more than wins and losses, but building a legacy of support, strength, and more. With their eyes set on the state title, the girls are ready to prove what they are made of.
