Industrial Technology Education programs prepare students for careers and higher education within Manufacturing Technology, Engineering and Design, Construction Technology, Transportation Technology and Communication. Students are provided technical knowledge that emphasizes high standards and quality experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development.

Vision and Mission

Industrial Technology programs will offer Programs of Study, aligned with industry standards. Beginning with a broad-based industry-focused career exploration course at the secondary level, programs will continue with a coherent sequence of courses within a career cluster through post-secondary education. Student attainment of proficiency will be measured through assessments aligned with industry standards, and providing students with industry certification(s).

The Department of Education will provide technical assistance and resources to assist schools and colleges in accomplishing the stated vision.

Statewide Articulation

There are no statewide articulations within the Industrial Technology cluster areas. Programs are advised to work with their community colleges to develop Programs of Study, and to adopt statewide recommended Program of Study models as they become available.

Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC)

MSSC Standards Orientation Guide

Certified Production Technician (CPT)

The CPT Certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. MSSC awards certificates to individuals who pass any of its Production Modules: Safety; Quality Practices and Measurement; Manufacturing Processes and Production; Maintenance Awareness; and Green Production and a full Certified Production Technician (CPT) Certification to those who pass all four original modules (NOTE: At this time, Green is not a requirement for full CPT certification).

Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)

The CLT Certification addresses the core technical competencies of higher skilled, front-line material handling and distribution workers in all supply chain facilities: from factories to warehouses, distribution centers and transporters. MSSC awards the foundational-level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certificate and the mid-level Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certification. CLA is a prerequisite for CLT.

MSSC Logistics (CLA/CLT) Certification

The CLT program consists of two parts: The foundational-level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) Certificate and the mid-level technical CLT Certification. Before sitting for the CLT assessment, candidates must have a CLA Certificate.
