Unit 19: Roofing (1 Week)
In this unit students should be able to define roofing terms. Students should be able to apply, roof felt, fiberglass shingles, tile and rolled roofing. Students should also be able to show how to estimate materials need for a roofing project. Students should be able to demonstrate how roof flashing works in the roofing system.
Standard 12.1 Student will be able to identify the materials and methods used in roofing.Standard 12.2 Student will be able to explain the safety requirements for roof jobs.Standard 12.3 Student will be able to install fiberglass shingles on gable and hip roofs.Standard 12.4 Student will be able to close up a valley using fiberglass shingles.Standard 12.5 Student will be able to explain how to make various roof projections watertight when using fiberglass shingles.Standard 12.6 Student will be able to complete the proper cuts and install the main and hip ridge caps using fiberglass Shingles.
