Description
This unit introduces students to the interpretation of various construction prints and the estimation of building materials. Students estimate the amount of material as well as the total cost of materials required to complete a project.

Standard 6.4 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals, with and without a calculator.
Standard 6.6 Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
Standard 6.9 Recognize some of the basic shapes used in the construction industry and apply basic geometry to measure them.
Standard 10.1 Student should be able to recognize and identify basic construction drawing terms, components, and symbols.
Standard 10.4 Student should be able to interpret and use drawing dimensions.
