Deforestation, its a term we give to the harvesting of a forest but how bad is this issue,is it something to be concerned about? Is it as bad as it sounds? And the answer is no, its much worse, and right now its not getting any better and thats a huge problem as our trees are vital to our survival, to the whole planets survival as our trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and allows us to live comfortably.
It's no secret deforestation is a massive issue, the widespread chopping of trees is a common practice of many even hosting multiple professions such as logging, this is fine to do as long as its done right, but thats not always the case as with lumberjacking as with the lumberjacking industry globally being worth $981.76 billion dollars people dont often have time to care about being eco friendly.
And thats where the problem is, trees being cut down without restraint rather than being allowed to regrow, thats what is wrong with cutting down trees, what would the issue be if the trees were able to grow back before being cut down again? There wouldn't be one, but with the average tree taking 10 - 30 years this is hard to do.
So what's a better way to stop the mass destroying of forests around the world, well i have two suggestions, the first is a method used by hunters, when hunting hunters hunt in seasons where they hunt one group of animals and then stop and hunt another to give the former time to repopulate, with a deer reaching their full size at about a year old this works decently well, but as mentioned before trees take far, far longer so the best this would do is slow down the issue
The second is a more scientific answer, a substitute, finding a substitute to wood based things would be the best option as we could leave our trees standing, untouched by loggers and the like, a good substitute for paper would be using nun wood fibers such as straw which is a favored non wood fiber using these fibers would cut out the need for wood paper or at least mean we have to use less.
A substitute for timber could be the plastic lumber commonly used in school benches from what i’ve seen, these can even be made with recycled plastic which is even better and i believe it to be as strong as regular timber, it doesn't require maintenance and is ideal for wet conditions as it doesn't rot like regular wood.
In conclusion i think the problems i have brought up and the solutions i've given for them would work fairly well especially when all used in conjunction with each other, my hope is that these methods are implemented in some form in a large enough way to truly make a difference and that someone with more knowledge can make even suggestions
