Our group is making fertiliser from used coffee grounds in order to be more eco friendly by not contributing to waste and to help our gardens that the hands-on team has worked so hard on.
Where: VCAFE (bucket from Hands On)
When: Period 3, 3rd of August
Observations:
The bucket needed a lot more water than we expected, as we had around 1 cup of coffee grounds and needed a litre of water per tsp. We followed a recipe off google and kept it covered and labelled so no one would throw it out.
Where: VCafe
When: Period 3 and Period 4 on the 10th of August
Observations: We had to restart the process because someone(Dave) threw out our other one. This week we put it in milk cartons so it is safer for everyone and made sure to label them extra well so no one could throw it out.
Where: VCafe
When: Period 3 on the 11th of August
Observations: We continued shaking the milk cartons in order to keep the coffee grounds from sinking to the bottom. We attempted to give some to hands on, but they were to busy and we didn’t want to disrupt them, so we decided to wait till next week to hand it in.
When: Period 3 on the 13th of August
Where: Hands On Learning.
Observations: Offered and delivered our homemade Coffee fertiliser to the Hands On Learning space and they gratefully accepted so it can be used in their gardens.
