The distinction of the ocean is happening right in front of our eyes. Caused by overfish, the Taiji dolphins and human made garbage in the ocean are just a few factors contributing to the decline of our oceans.
Taiji is a country that has continuously been caught in the participation of capturing and slaughtering of dolphins. Caught literally red handed killing up to twelve dolphins because the see them as competition in the fishing industry. Imagine being cornered by nets hit with boats and reputedly stabbed.
Overfishing is a lot more detrimental then you think. Today only 3% of blue fin tuna remain, over 300,000 whales and dolphins have been killed due to bycatch and species like thresher, bull and hammer head sharks have lost up to 80-99% of their population in the last two decades. At this rate I don’t think we have long till we see species become rapidly extinct.
Metal straw you’ve probably seen them and believed that they are saving the planet and sure they are helping but straw aren’t the real problem. Fishing nets! There are enough fishing line set every day to wrap around the planet 500 times. Fishing nets also make up 85% of all garbage in the ocean whilst straws make up only 0.03%. Every would rather follow the trends then talk about the bigger problem
Simple solutions are not enough, but they are a start. We just need to pay more attention to overfishing, dolphin killing and the garbage in our ocean. If we don’t start choosing certified sustainable seafood soon then it will be too late
