The world’s last great wildernesses are shrinking at an alarming rate. In the past 2 decades, 10% of the earth’s wilderness has shrunk due to human pressure. My key points are how we've been doing more bad than good for wildlife for the past decades, how we need to change, and how we can care for bring in more wildlife.
As tropical forests contain at least half the earth species, the clearance of some 17 million hectares each year is a dramatic loss. Urbanization is a big factor for the loss of wild life. Between 2000 to 2017 at least 20,212 hectares of forested habitat for nationality listed threatened species has been destroyed within Australia’s cities and towns. Source: Apo.org.au .the evidence above supports the fact that the largest wildernesses are shrinking, because that evidence is in Australia alone. We need to change the way we build properties and think before we act. 10% of the earth’s wilderness has been destroyed due to humans, for some reason we cut down beautiful forests to build houses or to plant unnatural plants.
Humans are now responsible for causing changes in the environment that hurt animals and plant species also we pollute habitats & we illegally hunt animals. The way us humans do things is very stupid, one of the big problems is pollution, mainly ocean pollution. We dump industrial waste, sewage waste and radioactive waste in the ocean. Another big cause of pollution is plastic waste. 100 million marine animals die each year from plastic waste alone. 8.3 million Tonnes of plastic is discarded in the sea. Illegal hunting, each year 35,000 elephants are slaughtered each year FOR WHAT! In Africa poachers kill thousands of endangered animals every day. Polluting our oceans and illegally hunting animals is definitely a reason why our wildernesses are shrinking at an alarming rate. We causing the changes to the environment is not going to help wildlife and humans.
We most definitely need to change the way we live to help the earth and all living things. The natural service (NOS), suggests 10 things we can do to help protect the earth. Here’s just a couple for example, reduce, reuse and recycle cut down on what you throw away, volunteer for community clean ups, plant a tree for food and clean oxygen. These 10 things are so simple anyone can do it and it is one step closer to a healthy environment for animals and humans. The way the environments looking at the moment is not great at all, we must start this change to bring back more wildlife for our planet.
Hopefully this showed you what we’ve done to wild life and the environment and how we need to wake up, stop killing millions of species each year.
