Recycled Bird Feeders 𓅪
Recycled Bird Feeders 𓅪
Our project was to create bird feeders that are environmentally friendly and would benefit our biodiversity score and school community. Native Animals/Species list score of 1. We decided to use secondhand teacups from the op shop (Vinnies in Frankston), old wood from the bear pit, vines from Kayleine's old room, and the paint from Mya's and Alesha's house. By reusing these household items and scraps found around the school we were able to keep this project at a minimal waste rate and keep the project budget friendly. The bird species we aimed for were grey fan tails as they are small and found around our community.

Finished Product
Overall this was our finished product! We were all very satisfied with the overall outcome and happy we were able to contribute to our schools biodiversity score. We allocated the bird feeder behind the VCAL/Major building as it has great access to smaller species of birds and has shelter enabling us to protect the durability of our project. Although we were unable to fill the recycled tea cup holders with bird seed, we currently have an alternative as of right now (breadcrumbs) to fill the cups up with. The breadcrumbs are stored in an air tight container to preserve for when needed for refilling and labelled clearly to notify students/teachers what the containers use is for. We all highly enjoyed creating this project and were able to explore what biodiversity looks like around our school and things that us students can do to increase our score.
