Hi my names Mikayla i am 17 years of age and studying year 12 in VCAL and 

gaining towards becoming a qualified educator the course i am completing is

my certificate III in early childhood education.

How am i finding the course so far

I am loving it, the assignments can be quite difficult at times but the work itself 

has a mixed variety of theory and practical work. It gives a great insight on what it's like in a childcare room there's heaps to learn and a lot to remember such as OHS, kids health, medication, sun safety, personal hygiene, communication with careers and emergency situations. 

How often am I on placement and how many hours do i study

I am at the childcare center two full days a week on a Wednesday and a Friday my center allows me to have an hour study time while at work. I also like to study an hour a day just to keep on top of everything and make sure I'm not falling behind as it is quite a lot of work needed. 

The difference from when I first started to now

I have been at the same childcare center my entire placement and i have been in all different rooms experiencing different ages and growth with kids, my main room now is called yellow room which is ages 1 going onto 2, i have realised over time how confident i am now with my ability to observe and teach in my room. 

Has my confidence improved 

Yes my confidence has watching other educators work with the children doing activities going through group time setting up water play has made me confident and comfortable enough to be able to come up with my own activities and group time for the children which i wouldn't of been able to when i first started, it helps a lot when you have a great team your working with especially because they give out a lot of support.

What are my goals for my career path   

After completing my cert III i would love to work towards working with child protective servieces because i believe i have a good understanding of how it works and goes as i have experienced it in my own life, i would love to work towards that and give a change in how some things work and help out the kids that have it hard.
