Deforestation is having a negative impact on our planet and our wildlife. This issue is the main cause of habitat loss and the decline in production of fresh foods.
Deforestation is causing habitat loss. Since 1937 the percentage of wildlife remaining has halved from 66% all the way to 35% in under a century. Humans are the number 1 contributor to the habitat loss crisis over one third of the earth has been deforested. The global temperature has increased by approximately 2 degrees since 1880 because of this environmental damage.
The second biggest issue from deforestation is the loss of animal life. Roughly 5 million animals die each year. Even worse are the amount of species going extinct each year. It is estimated that 50,000 species become extinct each year due to deforestation, a horrifying figure.
Alternatively, humankind must find other ways to live without destroying forests. We should look to reuse land that has been already cleared. This will mean that we are destroying less habitats, which ultimately means that less animals will be killed and their habitats protected.
Thus, we must all do our best to play our part in protecting the environment and making the world a better place for humans and animals alike.
