Our school project on mulching gardens aims to not only beautify our school but also increase the biodiversity score within our school grounds. We recognized the importance of creating sustainable ecosystems that support a wide range of plant and animal species. By implementing mulching techniques, we provide numerous benefits such as moisture retention, weed suppression, and improved soil fertility. This project fosters a healthier environment, attracting diverse species and ultimately elevating our school's biodiversity score. Through this project, we aim to create a thriving ecosystem that encourages environmental awareness and fosters a greater appreciation for nature.
Today we sent Gary an email asking to talk about the mulching and we took photos of garden beds that need to be mulched. We did this period 3 on a Thursday (3/8/23) the next step is to get approval from Gary.
We started grabbing mulch from hands on learning by using a wheelbarrow, rake, mulching fork, then we dumped it into the garden bed and used a rake to spread it. We did this on period 3 10/8/23
