More information about our team

We fish the Ultimate High School Bass Fishing trail, based in East Texas. We are one of one hundred teams in this years roster.

The LEHS Bass Fishing Team is currently endorsed by nearly thirty companies. These are some of the biggest names in the industry such as; Dobyn’s Rods, 13 Fishing, Yum, Missile Baits, Rapala, Tackle Warehouse, and many more. We are also endorsed, and have been donated to, by local business Baits N’ Blades.

We have competed and weighed fish at every tournament in the UHSBA trail with the exception of Bob Sandlin Lake.

The future of the team

We are seeking new members and boat captains for the 2024-2025 school year. We ask anyone that is interested in volunteering as boat captain or joining the team request more information, whether through our Facebook page, school email, or in person.

We also are seeking and appreciate any donations from the community.

Lake Tyler, February 23-24 2024

By: Austin Perry

We started fishing in Lake Tyler on February 23rd. We experimented around and within a few hours determined that the best chance we had to weigh fish the next day was to target shallow resident fish near dying clumps of emergent vegetation. The lake features almost no offshore cover or structure, so we targeted shallow cover and structure such as rocks, vegetation, and docks.

We began at 6:30am on a brick-laden brank on Lake Tyler West on the 24th, where we caught our two weighing fish within 10 minutes of the tournament starting. We moved around both lakes with little to no success as the day progressed. At 1:45pm (15 minutes before tournament end), we begun to hit a bank close to the weigh-in station riddled with brush and grass. Using a swim jig, I (Austin Perry) proceeded to catch the big fish of our bag (weighing somewhere between 3.75 and 4.25 pounds) in under two feet of water.

Cosmetology Student Goes Above and Beyond

Words from Chakyria White

I started my cosmetology journey as a freshman with Mrs. Hatchett (Intro to Cosmetology) and will complete this program with Mrs. Lott. It's been a challenge and there were many times I wanted to give up, but my teachers and peers always gave me the encouragement needed to keep going.

I plan on continuing with the barber aspect of this industry and all my classes have taught me to stay focused and motivated. Clocking in 900 plus hours wasn't easy but it can be done. I am grateful to be a part of Mrs. Lott's class and excited to see what my future holds. - Chakyria
