Welding

Instructor: Ray Howell

Ray Howell's welding students got a taste of Arkansas while on a recent field trip where they learned about the latest deveopments in the welding industry.

Upon arriving at the expo, our students were brought into a meeting room (with a few other schools)--we listened to a metal art welding expert, Rae Ripple.

She talked about the challenges in her life, failures and how she redirected every negative situation she encountered over the years.

She reinforced the following necessary qualities for success in this industry: having a strong work ethic; not limiting yourself to one career decision; steering away from investing a lot of debt in one area of work.

Rae Ripple has her story online and on a Facebook page that spotlights many of her projects. The most recent one was a huge armadillo she created at the request of a Texas city. She was paid $100,000 for this endeavor!

Our students visited the welding expo arena that included over a hundred different manufacturers with industrial/welding supplies and equipment. Representatives were on hand to discuss project offerings as well as live hands-on demonstrations of equipment and products from the vendors. Students were provided with an awesome lunch and enjoyed their time together. The students learned about all the new technology and advances in welding equipment and supplies.

Special thanks to instructor Ray Howell for going above and beyond for his students!
