Brenda Lenaway - Secretary

Brenda Lenaway

I was working for another local school district and I was not able to advance, so I applied with LE and was hired into this position. I am very happy I took this job.

I've only been in this position at LE for a few months, although I have done this type of work for 30 years.

I went to high school at Fontana High, Fontana CA.

Yes, I have had several previous jobs, my most recent job was working for TISD.

Positive - interacting with students and getting to know families in the community.

My family and I enjoy camping, fishing, and traveling. Lately, all of my free time is being spend on re-modeling our family home - a 1900's farm house.

Everyone at LE has been very helpful - the person that has helped the most would be Mary Walker.

Doni Watson - Counselor

Doni Watson

I started here in 1993 and left in 2000. It took me 10 years to make it back here to where I consider my "home" district.

I have been in the counselor's office for 8 years and taught science for 19 years before that.

I graduated high school in Hope, AR, went to STU Magnolia for my Bachelors degree and received my Masters degree at Texas A&M Texarkana.

Worked in restaurants and service stations through high school and college. I taught in Queen City for 7 years and Maud for 3 years before returning to LE.

Positive - building relationships with students and watching them mature from 8th grade to graduation. Negative - Still a lot of clerical duties and paperwork that keep me from counseling more often.

I like to kayak and camp - I read and I like to sleep in when I am not on the river.

Terri Brooks has been a mentor to me from the beginning. She does not mind letting me know what I need to do differently and she is full of support and promise for a job well done.

Julie Byrd - Librarian

Julie Byrd

14 years

Redwater High School; Bachelors and Masters at Texas A & M University-Texarkana; Library Science-UNT.

I have worked in restaurants, managing, serving and cooking.

Positive: I get to help staff and students in various ways. My job is to make things easier for everyone by providing resources.
