Archery

Instructor: David Moulton

LEHS has an archery class!

Not many people know that our campus now offers the opportunity to learn the basics of archery and it's open to all interested 11th and 12th  grade students.

Mr. David Moulton is currently our construction trades teacher and he offers two classes (A-day/first period and B-day/6th period).

Current students are learning the necessary skills and abilities such as mental strength, aerobic endurance, balance and coordination, reaction time, motivation and self confidence, skill/technique, agility, flexibility, strength and power. The archery class offers the chance to participate in an outdoor class , even though the first year focuses on basic safety techniques. Students who enjoy outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing are the best candidates for the archery class but everyone is welcomed.

The end goal for introducing this particular class is to offer dedicated students the chance to compete with other participating schools.

"The greatest accomplishment so far would have to be seeing the look of accomplishment and joy on the faces of these students. As the semester progressed, the accuracy and consistency increased for all participants," instructor David Moulton said.

Some of the skills and abilities needed by archers are: mental strength, aerobic endurance, balance and coordination, reaction time, motivation & self confidence, skill/technique, agility, flexibility, strength & power.

"This year, archery has been a particularly interesting class to attend because it has been both a brand new learning experience and an enjoyable, gratifying activity. We utilize bows to shoot, but he also incorporates games into our sessions so that we always have something entertaining to do. But Mr. Moutlon also teaches us about animals and his personal experiences in our class, so it's not just about archery. It's a pleasure to work with Mr. Moulton and have him as a teacher."-Christian Tovar

"Archery class is a fun and exciting way to express your emotions. I took the class to learn more about wildlife and to explore my interests in nature. It took me on a journey as well. I learned that if you want something hard enough and trust in God, anything is achievable."- Shelbi Collins

Tristan Mudery and Luis Perez

"Archery has been a really exciting class to take this year, not only has it been a new learning experience but it has also been engaging and rewarding. We shoot bows, but he includes games to go with our lessons so we always have something fun to do. But our class isn’t just about archery, Mr. Moutlon also teaches us about wildlife and the experiences that he has had in the past. Mr. Moulton is a wonderful teacher to have and a great friend to work with."-Tristan

"Archery has been a fun and challenging experience. Archery isn’t just about shooting a bow, you have to have focus and precision. Not only have we learned how to shoot bows and work on our coordination skills, we have learned about different interesting wildlife animals such as the whitetail deer. Mr. Moulton always makes sure to include games in our lessons so that we can have fun. Archery/Wildlife has been a very exciting class and Mr. Moulton makes sure to include something different every day."-Anderson
