Children of Blood and Bone

By: Maria Collins

Children of Blood and Bone is an exciting thriller filled with magic, treachery, and excitement. A girl, her brother, and a princess embark on a journey to bring magic back to the land while a prince hunts them down. With a king who wishes for magic to die, a prince who follows in his father’s footsteps and death following their every step, the girl and her friends have quite the work cut out for them.

This book is amazing with a great backstory and a view on all the character’s thoughts on the situation. It has plenty of action and has twists all throughout it and is a great page turner.

This is a book you have to read.

Tacos Mi Pueblos

Review by: Tanya Asencio

Located at:  2024 New Boston Rd, Texarkana, TX 75501, this restaurant is, in my opinion, one of the best Mexican restaurants out there. They provide REAL authentic food and my family literally eats there every weekend. Tacos are not the only delicious item they sell-they also offer sopes (which is my personal favorite) enchiladas, and tostadas. The only drawback is their hours of operation:

Go check out the awesome authentic Mexican establishment in Texarkana.

In order for this novel/book to make sense, reading Slammed by Colleen Hoover is a must. Point of Retreat picks up about a year after Slammed ends, and Lake Cohen’s mother has been dead about four months. Lake and her boyfriend Will are living across the street from each other and both are raising their younger brother. Lake is attending college and Will is seeking a graduate degree in education.

Point of Retreat grabs the reader by offering an insight into the lives of two young people who are forced to survive after their parents pass away. They face everyday struggles and tragic accidents while trying to keep their respective families intact and they bond in the process.

If you like romance with a slight bit of humor, this book is for you.

The Impossible Whopper

Review by: Malia Wyse

Everyone's wondering about Burger King's newest burger, AKA the Impossible Whopper. Well....maybe not everyone, but WE wanted to know a little more about a vegetable/plant based item offered at a well-known eating establishment.

We talked to sophomore Malia Wyse and got her take on the innovative option at Burger King.

"I was surprised at how good this burger tasted- there wasn't much difference between a regular Whopper and the Impossible Whopper," Malia said.

A regular Whopper has 660 calories and 40 grams of fat between its buns. An Impossible Whopper contains 630 calories and 34 grams of fat, so if you're looking for a burger with way less calories, this one's not it.

Overall, the Impossible Whopper seems to be holding it's own in most restaurants- only time will tell if customers feel the need to eat less meat when dining out.
