REPORTING DOMESTIC ABUSE

If you need urgent help, call 999.

If you would like to report domestic abuse in West Yorkshire via the webform, visit the site linked above. If an incident of domestic abuse is ongoing, you should report it over the phone by dialling 999 immediately. If possible go to a place of safety, for example a room with a lock on the door.

NATIONAL SUPPORT

Ask for ANI (Action Needed Immediately) is a domestic abuse codeword that you can use to access emergency support in pharmacies. All you need to do is ask the pharmacist for ANI (Annie) and they will be able to help you if you are experiencing domestic abuse. 

If you identify as LGBTQ+, you can call Galop on 0800 999 5428 for emotional and practical support.

Services and support for people with learning disabilities or autism who've experienced abuse or trauma.

Hourglass gives confidential advice and information to older people who are victims of violence or abuse. A relative or friend of the person being abused can also contact the helpline on behalf of the older person. The helpline can be used in the case of older people who live at home, in a care home or who are in hospital.

For Baby's Sake provide expectant parents with trauma-informed, therapeutic support to break the cycle of domestic abuse and give their baby the best start in life. 

SUPPORT FOR WOMEN

Women’s Aid is a grassroots federation working together to provide life-saving services for women in England and build a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

Women can call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge on 0808 2000 247 for free at any time, day or night. The staff will offer confidential, non-judgemental information and support.

Jewish Women's Aid is the only specialist organisation in the UK supporting Jewish women and children affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. Visit the website, access their webchat, or call 0808 801 0500 between Monday- Thursday, 9.30am-9.30pm.

Sikh Women's Aid offer support and advice for Sikh women who have experienced domestic abuse, honour-based violence, forced marriage, rape, or sexual assault. Visit the website or call 0333 090 1220 to speak to someone.

Provide support and refuge from domestic abuse to women from Black, Asian and minority communities and their children, to improve social inclusion, build confidence and skills, achieve emotional and practical well-being, and enable them to lead independent lives. Visit the website or call 0161 945 4187 between Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

Kiran Support Services aim to meet the needs of women and children primarily from the Asian sub-continent experiencing domestic abuse in all its forms. Visit the website or call 020 8558 1986 between Monday-Friday, 9:30am-4:30pm.

SUPPORT FOR MEN

Men can call ManKind on 0182 3334 244 between 10am-4pm, Monday-Friday. The confidential helpline is available for male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence across the UK as well as their friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues and employers.

A confidential helpline for all men across the UK suffering from domestic abuse by their current or former partner (including same-sex partner) or other family members. You can call the confidential helpline on 0300 303 0167. You can also access housing and support via the referral form on the site. 

LOCAL SUPPORT

Women’s Health Matters champions freedom for disadvantaged women and girls in Leeds so they may have a fair chance at a better life. These women are most at risk, including those experiencing domestic violence, sexual and emotional abuse, those with children in care or at risk of being removed, young mums, women seeking asylum, women with learning disabilities, and women with complex needs or mental health and wellbeing needs. Men can call the Men's Advice Line on 0808 8010 327 (Monday and Wednesday, 9am to 8pm, and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am to 5pm) for non-judgemental information and support.

Staying Put is a domestic abuse and sexual violence charity working across the Bradford area. They support women, men and children who are survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. You can visit their site or call 0808 2800 999 between 9.30am-4.30pm, Monday-Friday (closed for half an hour lunch at 1pm)

IDAS offers a range of free and confidential services for anyone in North Yorkshire, Barnsley and Sheffield to help people cope with, and recover from, the traumatic effects of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
