They have enjoyed a few different games with different size balls. They have played Noughts and crosses with beanbags and hoops, while being in teams. They are really putting their all into any activity. The supporting adults have been getting involved too.
We as a class have been lucky enough to have Stefan come in and read our class reader on a Friday morning. We are currently reading"The night we got stuck in a story" written by Ben Miller. It is a very exciting story and Stefan brings all the characters to life. The students listen intently. It is a really lovely to see.
We have been using our chromebooks to research the growing seasons of fruit and vegetables. The students have really settled well into the new schoolyear. They are enjoying learning about different things, be that churches, the local area, shapes and telling the time in maths, as well as practicing their addition and subtraction.
In Inquiry they have looked at compasses which fascinated some of them.
The students have enjoyed constructing tortilla pizzas, I am afraid there is no evidence they ate them.
However, we practiced our measuring, sifting, mixing and rolling skills to produce some very good looking scones. These were available to the parents for the coffee morning. It was reported that those that had eaten the scones enjoyed them.
This module we are studying Georgia Okeefe, she was an artist that drew and painted close ups of flowers. In the previous weeks we have completed a collage of flowers. Then we used water paint and painted flowers. this week we have been learning to draw our own flowers. Next week we are hoping to be making flowers.
We have been practicing regulation in the mornings,. The students have the choice of things to do. Some choose to read, but others have been making Loom band bracelets. Some have been constructing shapes and objects with magnetic shapes and linking balls, also many have enjoyed making things with play dough. It makes a lovely calm start to the day.
We have continued to research our artist of the module Georgia O'Keefe, we were making flowers this week out of crepe paper and pipe cleaners. It did prove to be a bit tricky but the students produced some great work.
We have had a busy week 5. Lots of experiences during our learning. We have investigated habitats in science and how animals have adapted to be able to live in extreme environments.
We have tried our hand at drawing cut flowers. We have played drums with Jack in our music lesson. We also had a fun interphase activity, Karaoke.
