Transdisciplinary Theme: Who we are
Central Idea: Different cultures have enriched our lives.
Lines of Inquiry:
Who were the people our classes are named after?
Is there evidence of their presence in our local area?
Where do the names of our localities come from?
What different people have settled in our locality?
What evidence do we have of the people who have settled here?
What impact have different people had on our local area?
What makes me different from the people around me?
How can we make the world around us a better place?
The students enjoyed learning to say hello in different languages and finding where European countries are located on a map of Europe.
The students have learnt about how different cultures have enriched our lives through food where we made sausage rolls and cheese rolls.
The students have also learnt about different foods and the countries they originated in.
Celebrating different cultures
Aztec class enjoyed their inquiry day where they experienced cultures from different countries. Each class represented a country and the students in Aztec class visited the different classes and carried out a variety of different activites.
Children In Need
Aztec class completed different activities in class for Children In Need. The students wore their own clothes to raise money and enjoyed a day filled with Pudsey fun!
Horticulture
The students enjoy going out to the gardern where they have planted seeds, watered the garden and even tried some of the produce!
Karaoke!
Aztec class love karaoke. They enjoy singing, dancing and cheering each other on!
Module 3 cooking
The students have enjoyed learning about the Jewish traditions this term and worked well together to make their own class bread.
The students also enjoyed making yummy brownies during National Fairy Tale week to share between Little Red Riding Hood, her Granny and the big bad wolf.
Exploring Maths through the use of manipulatives
The students enjoy being inquisitive in Maths and learning with the use of manipulatives. This term we have looked at sharing items into equal groups.
Table Top Cricket
Aztec class have enjoyed their cricket sessions this term. They demonstrated team work, compassion and supported one another, encouraging each other when batting and celebrating each other's successes.
