Welcome to the Renaissance Class – where we’re proud to be Happy Aspirational Learners!
This year, we’re starting an exciting adventure all about getting to know ourselves and each other. In our first two modules, Who We Are, we’ll explore our families, backgrounds, and what makes each of us unique. We’ll also learn about our emotions and how they affect the way we relate to others. In Module 3 and 4 learning changes to encompass 'How we organise ourselves'. We will be focusing on how teamwork helps us get along and be successful in all communities.
As the year goes on, we’ll enjoy specialist lessons and fun activities that help us grow our social skills and understand our feelings better. It’s going to be a year full of learning, laughter, and new discoveries – and we’re so excited to share it with you!

Today we wore red to represent 'Give racism the red card' day. We created some abstract art to represent this!
Part of our learning about what jobs are in a Church, Renaissance class went to Rochester Cathedral. We took part in different role play activities and learnt about the roles in a Church. We had our lunch in the Cathedral then took a very windy walk outside of Rochester Castle. The children had the best time!
As part of our learning about Sikh Gurdwara's, we have been looking into Langar. We tried 4 traditional vegetarian dishes which are usually served in a Gurdwara. The children had to sit on the floor, serve and help clean up which is what would happen in a Gurdwara.
We have been looking at the different features of Churches. To support our learning, we made a range of stained glass windows.
To support our learning of place value, we used a tens and ones grid to help us partition different numbers.
Phase 3 held a coffee morning for all our parents. In Renaissance class we made a lemon drizzle cake for our lovely parents to have with a coffee.
For maths, we have been investigating place value. To help us we played four in the row but the place value version!
For Art this term, we have been looking at Georgia O'Keefe's enlarged flower pieces. We created our own flower collage using different watercolours.
