Students enrolled in this FIRST year course will practice journalistic writing techniques, as well as management skills, page design, and photojournalism in order to produce the school’s yearbook.
Other areas that will be developed include designing and developing layouts for the yearbook using LayoutPro, Photoshop, and Indesign as well as learn elements of photography and how to use the photos effectively. Students will be required to write stories, captions, and headlines and conduct interviews with students and staff. The ability to meet strict deadlines and work with others is critical. Students will be required to meet outside of class time to meet publishing deadlines. Though it is recommended that students have strong writing skills, experience in basic graphic arts/design, and/or photography, all students are welcomed to learn and hone their skills.
Yearbook Prod 2 | XYY8630 | Credit Value: 1
In this SECOND year course students will continue to develop the skills gained in Yearbook Production 1. They will also assume more responsibility towards the completion of the book and may apply for a Section Editor position. It is required that the student demonstrated successful completion of Yearbook Production 1.
Yearbook Prod 3 | XYY8650 | Credit Value: 1
In this THIRD year course, the student continues to apply yearbook skills, extend areas of expertise, and assume more responsibility in an editorial or management position in the planning and production of the school yearbook. Student may be asked to attend trainings and help facilitate the first year staffers. It is required that the student demonstrated successful completion of Yearbook Production 1 and 2.

In this FOURTH year course, students continue to refine yearbook skills and assume more responsibility in an editorial or management position in the planning and production of the school yearbook. Student may be asked to attend trainings and help facilitate the first year staffers. It is required that the student demonstrated successful completion of Yearbook Production 1, 2, and 3.
