Play production is a learning center program providing students on O’ahu with the opportunity to produce a show from the ground up. CTAA’s program is unique as it offers students the opportunity to not only build, but design the set, costumes, props, lights, and sound. Play production students are involved in the process of and learn all aspects of a live theatrical production. Students take courses in set building and construction, costume design and construction, technical theatre, choreography, acting and directing, and voice and pit orchestra. Students not performing on stage or as pit orchestra musicians will be assigned a crew team for the 2nd and 4th quarter performances of the main stage productions. All students are required to follow the safety handbook, and will be graded according to the play production rubric. All students are required to attend and work the mandatory strike day, usually the day after the closing performance.
