Residential & Commercial Construction 1 is a SECOND year course (recommended for grades 10-12) that teaches students the basic knowledge & skills that are related to the Construction Industry. Students are exposed to various trades (masonry, tile setter (hollow-block), carpentry, welding, etc.) depending on the projects selected for the year. In addition, students have the option to participate in the Career Connections program sponsored by the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship and Training Fund. Upon successful (80% or higher) completion of the Career Connections program, students will receive a certificate that grants them immediate access to join the Carpenters Apprenticeship program. Students will also have the option of participating in a paid summer internship.
