SCHOOL SPOTLIGHTS
On Wednesday, April 24th we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day at GSES. Ms. Huguley, Mrs. Freyre, and Mrs. Walker are the wonderful team who keep GSES running! They are the friendly voices you hear on the phone, the sweet smiles you see at the front desk, the organizers, the money managers, the sign updaters, the event planners, the fixers of all things, and the best problem-solving team who is always there when we need them. We are so thankful for all they do for our school! Join us in wishing Ms. Huguley, Mrs. Freyre, and Mrs. Walker a Happy Administrative Professionals Day!
Battle of the Best
5th grade is happy to have their first day of state GMAS testing under their belt after taking the science section of the test on Friday. Students had a fun time reviewing with an intense 6-day Battle of the Best tournament held each day during their science class, where six teams across six classes collected points to crown a Battle of the Best champion! Students enjoyed the games Pirate's Booty, Beanboozled, Stinky Feet, Connect 4 Race, Castles, and Crack the Code, which each reviewed a specific science unit they have explored this year. Congratulations to the Green Team, Team 4 who were crowned tournament champs!
The Floor is Lava!
Our 4th grade students have been working hard this week to review and prepare for their upcoming GMAS state assessments. This week, they became volcanologists, working through obstacles in an exciting game of The Floor is Lava that included core review skills. Students also enjoyed glow days to practice and review math and reading skills. Our students are ready to show off all that they have learned this year!
Busy Bee Update
Lyle's Busy Bees had a fun week learning about Earth Day. They explored how important it is for EVERYONE to do their part to keep our planet healthy. Even 4 year olds can do their part to help take care of our planet!
They also enjoyed having two of Mrs. Lyle's former students join their class as guest Pre-K guest readers. Hannah and Anderson were great examples to show our Pre-K students what great readers sound like!
