SCHOOL SPOTLIGHTS
Panther Proud!
Congratulations to our Panthers who had a great showing at Friday's JCSS Spring Special Olympics! Our students had a great time and showed their Panther Pride in many events. GSES staff and students enjoyed sending our competitors off in style by making a cheering tunnel for them to walk through as they loaded the buses to head to the big event. We are SO PROUD of our amazing Panthers! (Look for lots more photos coming to social media soon!)
Publishing Party
Kindergartners have been working hard to grow as writers all year. On Friday, they were excited to invite their parents to celebrate with them at their Kindergarten Publishing Party. Students' writing was published in a hardbound book for them to keep as a special memory of their growth this year. We loved hearing authors read their pieces with pride. Great job, Kindergarten!
Celebration of Culture
Mrs. Salom and many of our EL families enjoyed celebrating with our school system at JCSS' annual International Night on Friday evening. The evening was a true celebration of culture with special exhibits, performances, foods, and more that showcased the diversity of communities in our JCSS family.
Picnic Party
Mrs. Chandler's Kindergarten class has been working hard all year to show PAWS expectations. When they receive a compliment about their class from another staff member in the hallway, they earn points. Students were excited to recently have their second compliment party this year! Everyone enjoyed last week's beautiful weather by celebrating with a class picnic!
A-B-C Countdown to Summer!
The countdown to summer is on! Many of our classes are enjoying A-B-C countdowns and celebrating with special activities as they work their way through the alphabet to reach the end of the year. Mrs. Sapecky's 2nd graders really enjoyed taking their learning outside last week for "C"halk Day!
First Grade Field Trip Fun
First graders had a great time on their field trip Elachee Nature Center last week. They enjoyed learning about animal habitats by playing the Animal Wheel Game and hiking the outdoor nature trail. They also met Chewy, the one-eyed owl who was rescued and rehabiltated. Students were able to see some of Georgia's native snakes, turtles, and tortoises, and some students even pet Caramel the snake! It was a great day of learning and fun!
