Congratulations to this year's school Spelling Bee Champion, 4th grader Ava McDonald and alternate Brady Lee. Read more in the School Spotlight below about how Ava claimed the title last week!
Holiday decorations are popping up all over school, and we're all FEELING FESTIVE at GSES! It's certainly a fun and busy time of year! The full week before we head home for the holidays will include a few simple dress-up opportunities for students and staff to show their holiday cheer. Each day is paired with a holiday book read-aloud that will be shared on Facebook. Check the calendar below if your child is interested in participating.
Merry Grinchmas! GSES PTO is sponsoring a Holiday Shoppe for students December 14-19. Students who would like to shop may bring money to purchase gifts for family or friends. Lots of awesome PTO elves will be available to help them pick out the perfect choices and wrap their gifts to bring home. Gifts include something for everyone--parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, etc., including items such as ornaments, holiday decor, candles, UGA gifts, stuffed animals, toys, and more! Prices of items will range from $1 to $20. Students may pay with cash only. Students will shop on the following days at a designated time for their class:
Wednesday, December 14: Kdg and Multi-Age Classes
Thursday, December 15: 1st and 4th grades
Friday, December 16: 2nd and 3rd grades
Monday, December 19: Pre-K, 5th grade, and make-up shopping day for students who were absent on their designated day
As you are visiting GSES for special events in the next few weeks, please be sure to check the Lost and Found. All items will be donated to a local charity during the holiday break.

SUPER SPELLERS
Twenty-three spellers, twelve rounds, and 135 words later, 4th grader Ava McDonald took home the title of 2022 GSES Spelling Bee Champion at our annual event held Thursday, December 1st. Her winning words were EXHILARATION and PIONEERED. 5th grader Brady Lee was the runner-up in this year's contest and will serve as our school alternate. Ava will now advance to represent GSES at the JCSS District Spelling Bee.
Our twenty-three spellers in the event were also winners! They earned the chance to compete in the school bee by winning their 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade homeroom Spelling Bee. Spelling challenging words in front of a crowd takes a lot of courage, and we are SO PROUD of all the spellers who stepped up to the microphone to tackle the challenge. Congratulations to Ava and all of our competitors for their hard work and determination. You make us Panther Proud!
MULTI-CULTURAL CELEBRATION
This week, Panther families gathered at GSES for a multi-cultural family celebration. Guests enjoyed the great food each family brought to share and the opportunity to spend time together. Thank you to Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Spindola for coordinating this special event!
