News & Updates
Picture Day is this Tuesday September 20th. Dress for Success for our yearbook pictures!
We are excited for our Fun Run Week! Please remember that parking is very limited and there is no parking on the access road between GSES and WJMS during school hours. If you are joining us for the first run, please do not plan to arrive before 8:15 due to morning arrival for students. There is parking in the front of the building and behind the building. If you park behind the building, please note that you will have to move your vehicle by 1:45 so that buses may arrive for afternoon dismissal.
Our Book Fair is full swing and continues through Friday, September 23rd. Remember that gift cards can be purchased at https://efairs.literati.com/. The Book Fair is open for late shopping until 6:00 P.M. on Monday, September 19th.
Congratulations to our September 16th Spirit Contest Winners; Rylan White, Annie Perry, Alex Turner, and Ezekiel Strength. We love seeing your Panther Pride! Four more lucky winners will be selected at our next home game on September 30.
Thank you to those that donated Band-aids to our Clinic! We are appreciative of our helpful community!
Please be sure to remind your child to check the Lost & Found for lost items. We will be donating any unclaimed items to a local charity on September 30th.

September 20 is National IT (Information Technology) Professionals Day. You may have never had the chance to meet our school IT Coordinator, Mr. Connor Autry, but we are so thankful he's part of our Panther family! He keeps us online, makes sure about 1,500 computers are always running, and is a chief problem-solver for anything that comes up at GSES! We appreciate what a go-getter and flexible worker he is! Thanks, Mr. Autry!
Everything is Possible!
The first of the 7 Mindsets our students have explored this year is "Everything is Possible." Our students have learned that dreaming big, embracing creativity, thinking positively, and learning to "act and adjust," are ways to help tackle a challenge and make EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. Our staff member and student who were recognized for exhibiting this Mindset are Coach Cody Whitlock and student Lou Barrera-Smith. Congratulations!
"Red Carpet Run" is Coming Soon!
Our “Red Carpet Run” FUNdraiser is underway this week! Thanks to GSES PTO who is fully organizing and sponsoring this year's campaign so that our school can keep 100% of profits raised! Our goal is to raise $55,000 to help provide more playground equipment, upgrades to our school sound system, robotics equipment for student classes and clubs, and student incentives to promote positive behavior. Here are some ways you can help us meet our goal:
Register online at https://tinyurl.com/gsesredcarpetrun. Registration includes a personal website for your child that is easy to share with friends and family. (As of 12:00 Sunday, 28% of our students are already registered. Thank you!)
Ask friends and family to sponsor your child and help support our school.
Share your child's fundraising website on social media. You might just be surprised who is willing to support your child! Texts to friends and family with a cute video or picture are great promotional tools as well.
Ask local businesses to be a GSES school sponsor. GSES PTO is nonprofit 501(c)3 and can provide tax receipts. Plus, we'll give business donors a shout-out on our school Facebook page. Finding a business sponsor is often a great way to help your child reach a big fundraising goal quickly.
Our PTO Prize Patrol is excited to recognize lots of students this week. They will be recognizing students who meet personal goals but also awarding "Pop-Up Prizes" to randomly-drawn students who get ANY DONATION each day. Pop-up Prize Winners will get to play Prize Drop Plinko!
Families are welcome to come celebrate with us and cheer for your child at our Fun Run THIS FRIDAY, September 23rd. (In the event of rain, our runs will have to be moved indoors to our gym, in which case we do not have space to host all of our students and families, so we’re hoping for a beautiful sunny day!) Runs will take place at the following times:
8:35-9:20 Pre-K & Kdg
9:20-10:05 1st Grade
10:05-10:50 3rd Grade
11:00-11:30 Parker, Richardson, Benkoski, Lankford, & Clark's Classes
11:35-12:20 5th Grade
12:20-1:05 2nd Grade
1:05-1:50 4th Grade & Hendley's class
