CIS Domain E - Actions update

April 2021

• Goal 12 - The school has continued to manage the different experiences of the students as more classes have been moved temporarily online due to COVID, and others (G8&9) are alternating. The practices set up by the school have been well received by students and parents, and the faculty are supportive of them. The leadership team and the COVID taskforce meet regularly to review new government information and how it will affect teaching and learning and procedures.

• Goal 14 - The college counsellors and the Head of Grades 11 & 12 have worked on a proposal to better support students in DP. These ideas are to have a more systematic timeline, for informing students of their progress and identifying areas where they can improve with teacher support. They were presented to the Heads of Department for feedback.

• Goal 12 - The university counsellor conducted the first Counselor Parent Chat for high school families. These are planned to continue on a monthly basis, including guest presenters.

March 2021

Project comments were added by the Principals Team (Principals, Assistant Principal, Head of School, Learning Continuum Director) at their 8/4/2021 meeting.

• Goal 12 - The school's website for Online Home Learning has been adapted to cater to students who are absent while the school is fully open, for classes or grade levels which are closed, and for a whole campus or whole school closure. We have experienced several of these scenarios over this academic year.

• Goal 14 - The university counselling programme is now holding meetings with parents and students from Grade 9 upwards, and publishes a monthly bulletin to the community. Feedback from parents and students on the meetings and the bulletins has been uniformly positive.

• Goal 14 - The school has invested in new software which was used to host an online version of the annual Career Fair. This was successful, but the school is looking to see what lessons can be learnt from the first use of it.

• Goal 14 - Students and parents have been accessing the Counselling platform successfully, and the university counsellors are reporting that it is simplifying and streamlining the application process for them and for students.

January 2021

Project comments were added by the Principals Team (Principals, Assistant Principal, Head of School, Learning Continuum Director) at their 4/2/2021 meeting.

• Goal 12 - Comprehensive web pages have been created, outlining the various scenarios to undertake if partial or whole school closure is imposed. Internal documentation and schedules have been developed in relation to specific phases of the school to support staff with a school closure scenario. Some aspects of school life (such as Zoom parent conferences) have proved to be successful in an online format and these can be easily put in place in the event of school closure.

• Goal 14 - The college counsellors work with students in Grade 10 to support their choice of subjects for the DP.

• Goal 14 - Career Day is planned and will take place using a virtual platform. This year, it this has been extended to Grade 8, and so Grades 8-12 will all participate.

• Goal 14 - The University Counselling team has rolled out a new software that will support student applications to colleges and universities, and this is now available to students and parents.

• Goal 14- The University Counselling Team has developed a Google Sheets-based database which can store and analyse student performance in Grades 11 & 12. This will be used to track progress and ensure that students and teachers are aware of their progress.

December 2020

• Goal 12 - Three models and plans have been documented and successfully tested during the COVID-19 period.

• Goal 14 - Several workshops have been delivered for High School students and parent, with extremely positive feedback received.

IMPORTANT

November - Due to additional expectations with COVID-19 protocols / Lockdown 2 and Home / Online Learning requirements some strategic projects have now been 'paused'.

Note - This area (Domain E) has not been changed in any manner.

October 2020

• Goal 12 - Several teams have been developed to review and update COVID-19 protocols, online learning needs and to address positive case issues on a weekly basis.

• Goal 14 - Additional workshops have been offered to families in October.

September 2020

• Goal 12 - ISP now has a dedicated website for the two Online / Home Learning platforms.

• Goal 14 - A new university counsellor has been recruited, and a software programme is being purchased to continue to improve our offerings in this area.
