Session Outcomes:
1️⃣ Understanding the Connection between UDL and Games-Based Learning
“GBL not only only engages learners in learning, but also deepens their understanding of textbook content so they can solve more complex problems” (Perini et al., 2018). Combining curriculum and problem-solving, participants will understand the alignment between games-based learning principles and the checkpoints within the Universal Design for Learning (UDL). By recognising the role games can be integrated into each strand, educators can leverage the relationship between UDL and GBL to enhance learner motivation and engagement in the classroom.
2️⃣ Designing and Adapting Differentiated Games-Based resources
Through interactive activities and examples, educators will gain practical experience for designing, adapting and differentiating lesson material in games-based resources that align with the three UDL strands, curricular content and student needs. This will include exposure to various game formats, experimenting with different resources, and taking home scaffolded material that is ready to adapt or utilise.
