This session reimagines mathematics teaching by shifting from traditional, procedure-heavy instruction to a concept-based, inquiry-driven approach.

Teachers will engage in innovative strategies that promote deeper understanding, student agency, and flexible thinking. 

By experiencing the process themselves, participants will explore how to design learning that invites curiosity, fosters connections, and transforms the mathematics classroom into a space for exploration and meaning-making.

In this interactive session, teachers will experience Concept-Based Inquiry first-hand and explore practical strategies to deepen students’ mathematical understanding.

Through experiencing Concept-Based Inquiry themselves, teachers will come away with:

• Practical strategies for balancing inquiry with the development of mathematical fluency

• Ideas for structuring mathematical inquiry throughout a unit

• Approaches to make maths learning more inductive and giving students more agency
