Workshop Information:
An interactive session that stimulates small group talk.
The EAL Quality Mark is a moderated self-assessment tool.
Schools use criteria about leadership and management, teaching and learning and parents and community to evaluate their EAL provision as the basis for a dialogue about how they improve it.
The session will explore how the EAL Quality Mark has enhanced EAL provision in international schools in France, Ukraine, Malaysia and the UK.
Session Outcomes:
An enhanced awareness of what high quality EAL provision in an international school looks like
An understanding of how to ensure there is effective EAL provision in every classroom
Biography:
Graham’s career covers teaching, training, consultancy and senior management. From 2009-2011 he was Project Director of London Challenge’s Pan London EAL Strategy, a programme delivering 2,000 days of training in 200 schools in 31 local authorities that was a key factor in providing the highest levels of attainment in the country for pupils with EAL. In 2012 he set up the EAL Academy (https://theealacademy.co.uk/).
Michelle Stanley had along successful career as an EAL specialist in schools and as consultant before moving into school improvement. She is currently the education lead adviser for a large English county council.
