Professional Learning and Support 2023/24

What support is available in 2023/24 and how can I access this?

There is an extensive professional learning offer available to schools in support of the realisation of the curriculum for Wales in 2022/23. The type of professional learning will be determined by each practitioners role in the system.

Networks:- An extensive range of networks will run with the aim of providing curriculum updates, sharing good practice and providing opportunities for discussion/professional dialogue. For a full list of networks and dates, please see the professional learning offer 

Sharing Existing Practice Events:- Throughout 2023/24, we will be providing a co-ordinated opportunitt for schools to share and see emerging practices in respect of their work towards curriculum for Wales. Further updates on how to get involved in these sessions, will appear here throughout the year. 

Bespoke Support:- If you would like bespoke support for professional learning in any aspect of curriculum for Wales, please get into contact and we can broker this for you. Please contact James.Kent@sewaleseas.org.uk with requests. We are happy to facilitate requests for individual schools or clusters.

Cluster Support - Shared Understanding of Progression:- In 2023/24 we will be working with Professor Mick Waters and schools to develop an action research approach to developing a shared understanding of progression across clusters, to build on the work of the national CAMAU project. Full details of how to engage with the programme will be sent out to all schools during the Autumn term advertised on this site and via EAS networks.

The  Cross Regional Curriculum for Wales programme for Headteachers, Senior Leaders, Middle Leaders and Teachers

In 2023/24, the EAS alongside the other regional consortia and partnerships across Wales, will be running a series of short workshops to support schools in better understanding progression and assessment in the context of the curriculum for Wales framework, with opportunities to learn from school-based examples from across Wales.

Curriculum for Wales Development Groups 

Curriculum for Wales Progression and Assessment Development Group 

The purpose of this group is to better understand the approach to progression and assessment set out in the curriculum for Wales guidance and to share the emerging approaches that schools are taking in addressing this within the design of their curriculum and assessment planning. 

This group is open to those in a formal leadership position in the first instance and can be accessed via out Teams page (link below).
