Homer Center hosted Quiz Bowl for the first time in 3 years on Tuesday, December 10th. Quiz Bowl is an academic competition where each school commits a JV and Varsity team to compete in 2 different events. There’s the actual trivia section where each team sends their 5 team JV and Varsity teams onto the stage and the first to buzz in and correctly answer a question gets a point for their team. JV has 15 questions and Varsity has 25. There is also a problem solving component where 10 members from each school must work together to solve a problem that the host school provides. Our varsity Wildcats went 2-1 yesterday with important victories over Indiana and River Valley. They fell in a very close match to United. JV unfortunately went 0-3 against the same slate of teams. The teams combined to earn Homer Center a 1st place overall in problem solving. The wildcats will travel to West Shamokin on January 21st. After that, they will travel to Indiana for the playoffs in February. Currently, the Varsity team sits 4th overall in the league. Keep up the great work Wildcats!
