Meet Ms. Scherf

By: Ally George

After the the retirement of Mr. Wyant, Homer-Center High School hired Mrs. Scherf as the new art teacher. Mrs. Scherf  grew up in Indiana. She went on to go to college at Westminster College as a major of Fine Arts and Spanish. There, she studied abroad in Spain her junior year then spent one of her summers working in Mexico. After Ms. Scherf graduated, she got a job at Hampton Roads Academy in Newport News, VA for teaching. After two years, she decided to move back home to be closer to her family. Doing so let her work at Blairsville for ten years then start working here at H-C.  We are very excited to have her join the H-C staff and community.

We decided to ask Ms. Scherf some random questions to get to know her better:

What were some activities you were involved in when you were in high school?

-"I played high school soccer and ran track. I was also very involved with art and portfolio club. I was also involved with Athena club."

What are your hobbies?

-"I love spending time with my husband and three kids and our chocolate lab. We are always outdoors and finding new adventures. We all love sports and staying active. I also love to garden and cook."

What's your favorite food?

-"Eggplant Parmesan :)"

What is your favorite color?

-"Robin Egg Blue."

Finally, If you could be any object in the world what would you be and why?

-"I love this question!! It really makes you think. I think my answer would be a book. A book can change one's perspective and really be impactful in their life."

If you ever get a chance, stop by to see Mrs. Scherf and give her a nice warm welcome!
