Memories & Thoughts from Today :)
Navigator’s Notes
Today we were lucky to have two visitors! We started off our day by (virtually) flying from Seattle, Washington all the way across the continent to Québec City in Canada. Once we got there we met with Park Warden Eric from Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site. This was our 3rd time visiting Park Warden Eric. We always like seeing him and his cat Bobby. Unfortunately, Bobby was out hunting today. But that's OK because we learned a lot from Park Warden Eric. He showed us pictures of Québec City in the winter. There is so much snow!
After our visit with Park Warden Eric we had an in-person visitor. Dr. Ben Lukey from UH p4c joined us. He told us a story about how uncertainty had played a big role in his life. He was never quite certain if he was where he was supposed to be and it was this uncertainty that gave him the flexibility to make the most of opportunities. This made us wonder if uncertainty is a good or bad thing. We also wondered what's the connection between uncertainty and luck. Dr. Lukey stayed as we discussed the p4c wondering that was inspired by his talk: "Why is death so scary?" We had a thoughtful, serious, and great discussion about this question.
Our in-person lunch times are fun. We get to eat together and then just hang out and relax together. But we didn't get to relax for too long. After lunch we made the 1 mile walk to see Uncle Norman at the FETCH farm. Today we helped Uncle Norman to clear out a hydroponics bed. Some of us liked the muddy water and worms. Some of us didn't! Next we harvested the micro-greens that we planted last week. It is amazing how much they grew in a week! Then we picked some limes and tomatoes. Finally we ended our day with a second p4c discussion. We demonstrated p4c for Uncle Norman; picking up where we left off in the morning with our question "Can anything go on forever?" It was another great day!
