Memories & Thoughts from Today :)
Navigator’s Notes
Today we started our day by visiting the SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota. This is our 3rd straight year visiting the SPAM Museum. It is a favorite stop. SPAMbassadors Terri, Jeff, and Mayme showed us all around the Musuem. They shared the history of Hormel foods, the story of how SPAM was created, all of the places where SPAM is eaten, and the good works of the Hormel Foundation.
After finishing our visit with the SPAMbassadors we had fun in the breakout rooms sharing the virtual backgrounds that we'd created and then played Kahoot! We played the VRT 2021 Kahoot quiz that we made last year. Rob was the winner! After these fun games we finished up our morning by (virtually) traveling to South Dakota. We looked around Wall Drug. They had lots of cool things including a giant robotic dinosaur. After getting dinner there we drove on to our campground at Badlands National Park. It sounds like there's going to be a storm tonight!
In the afternoon we had our VRT p4c Book Club. It was our final book club meeting about the book The Phantom Tollbooth. We shared what we liked about the book and thought about this question: Which is more important, words or numbers? Finally, we ended our day with art class. Aunty Janell taught us about perspective and how to draw two objects at different distances. It was another good week on the VRT!
P.S. During the evening some members of our group and their families met up to see Kāhea, an adaptation of The Magic Flute opera put on by our youth opera program partners. It was a good show, great to see our friends in action, and nice to get together.
